Aren’t they pretty?!

I’ve tried them on at least 3 times tonight and sat and admired them for a lot longer! I know that is sad but they’ve got to be admired before they get covered in mud and stink like the old pair.

I went to Running Freeย in Parkstone on my way home tonight. My old shoes have done just over 600 miles so that may well have been a contributing factor to my calf pain. I took them with me and without telling them that I bought them there last time they checked the wear (which was totally even, right up the middle of the shoe) and told me that I’d been sold the right shoe and that they recommended that I go for the same again, especially given the marathon training. I was most impressed with their service once again. I ran up and down the shop in them and a couple of different pairs for comparison whilst the owner of the shop watched me. You do feel a bit daft but they really know their stuff. I was offered video analysis to compare the shoes but tbh I trust their judgement and wouldn’t really know what I was looking at so just went with their recommendation.

I can’t wait to run in them but not sure if we are on or off road tomorrow and I don’t want to get them muddy on their first outing!

I’ve done a bit more reading up on my calf pain tonight and am convinced it is my soleus so have been looking at stretches specific for that. Will roller again tonight and Mike will be happy to play sadist again tonight……

I’ve decided that I will maintain my mileage this weekend but be a bit kinder to my legs by splitting it in two and doing half tomorrow and the rest on Sunday. Hopefully this strategy will work out okay!

I just want to say a huge thank you to Alison at Physically Philosophicalย as she has been a huge help to me this week as regards my nutrition. I was in a bit of a state about it all this time last week but she’s helped me loads. Thank you!

What plans are afoot for this weekend? Anyone else off to be blown away on their run?

Yeah I have 12 miles today- waiting for Andy to get back now, then I am out. The wind is so loud so I am not looking forward to the parts into the wind!
Love the new shoes and so good to hear that they properly analysed you, the wear on your shoes etc too ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the shout out Rose! I’m such an interfering busy-body when it comes to sports and vegan nutrition, it was no bother ๐Ÿ˜‰

So exciting about new shoes too! I’m going to need some soon. My physio thinks that once my glute is well and truly sorted I’ll probably be fine in a neutral shoe. Which is very exciting as there is so much more choice! ๐Ÿ˜€ (shallow, me!?)

I *might* go and try running a mile some time this weekend, but I have a feeling that when all those people told me to take it easy, they meant “don’t go out running straight away on sore legs”. So maybe not..
